He's Home . . .

. . . and now so are we! I just spent a little over a week in Utah. My brother Cameron returned from his mission in Taichung Taiwan. I got there a couple days before he did, and so to keep busy we went to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. They were so beautiful and the weather was hot! I packed fall clothes, becuase North Dakota is having cooler temps, but Utah felt like summer in full swing!

For family home evening, we went up the canyon and made a movie of the Jaredites building the Tower of Babel. My sister has been making movies with her family to teach the scriptures to her boys. I have to say it was very effective.

On Tuesday, Cameron's plane didn't come in until 11:15 pm so we decorated the house up for him eariler that day. Mom did such a good job on the posters and balloons!


That night, we all were so anxious and excited waiting for him to get off the plane! We all had matching shirts on. I'm sure we were quite the spectacle! Here are our future missionaries (minus Teegan who was sleeping in the stroller). We spent the next couple days together as a family. It was so fun to have the family back together again! (Except for B and Kelly who were still in Israel and Idaho for work). On Friday we had family pictures taken up in Midway. As we drove through Provo canyon, I enjoyed all the beautiful fall leaves!

Teegan looks kind of funny in this picture, but Chelsea looks so pretty (as always)!

Coleman found lots of fun toys while we were in Utah. Amber and Gregg brought over the wiggle bikes and Coleman loved them! (So did Phil and I!)

On Saturday, we spent the day at the Roylances and went down to Great Grandpa Roylance's for a little bit. Coleman got to ride/play on the tractor!

Being with my family this past week reminded me of how much I love them and miss them. I'm sorry this was such a long post. This is my journal, though, and I wanted to record all the fun events! Thank you everyone for a fabulous trip, and welcome home Cam!

The next Michael Phelps . . .

Coleman has started swimming lessons! Its so fun. The class is called Tadpoles and it teaches toddlers to get used to the water. After his first lesson, he learned to blow bubbles in the water (teaching him it is okay to have your face in the water) and how to kick. The parents have to get in with them. Thanks Phil for volunteering. I'd rather hold Teegan and take pictures than get in the frigid water! :)

Last weekend, we also went to the Parade of Homes, here in Fargo. It was a lot of fun and it was FREE!! I couldn't believe it. In Utah you have to pay $10 a person just to walk through houses. Anyway, it wasn't nearly as fancy as Utah's, but it was still fun. Someone once told us to make a book of things we like, so that when we build, we have something to start with. That won't be for like another ten years, but we can always start dreaming!
I loved this Kitchen. I think the red walls with those cabinets and the lighting underneath looks awesome! I also liked how much space there was around the island.

This bedroom was darling! It was a cowboy room and Phil and I both loved it. They draped cowboy hat lights over the headboard! So cute! Maybe when we're done with trains in Coleman's room, we'll do something like this!

I also really like these fireplaces. It makes me want to cuddle up in an over sized chair next to it and read a good book!

And of course I can't blog without adding a picture of Teegan. He is growing so fast. He has refused to nurse, so we have moved to just bottle feeding. This was causing him to spit up like crazy. We called the doctor and she said to put a little bit of rice cereal in his bottles. This is helping, but I'm having a hard time grasping the fact that he is starting to eat baby food. I am already feeling like he isn't my little baby anymore. :(

I am SO tired

To start off our long week, we celebrated Coleman's second birthday! When Coleman blew out his candles, he got to do it twice because he blew them out before I could get the camera turned on. In fact, he blew them out before we could even sing to him. Here is Brodie helping on the second try! So cute!


Blowing out candles wasn't the only thing Coleman got to do twice on his birthday. Opening up presents was another. The story: I wrapped up Coleman's presents and put them on the table and then ran to the store to get balloons for his birthday. I left Phil home with Coleman. He decided to take a nap. Who takes a nap with a two year old running around? Some babysitter he is! When I came home, wrapping paper was everywhere. Phil tries to blame it on me that I left the gifts where he could get them. I find it ironic that I had no problem keeping him out of his presents. Maybe it is because I stayed awake! :) Well, I wanted pictures, so I wrapped them up again.

Dad and Coleman playing with the train. My parents got Coleman GeoTrax for his birthday, and Phil and I decided to get him some additional parts. Now Phil and Coleman both have a train to drive. I'm still debating on who likes the toy more!


We also found a new toy for Teegan. Balloons! He has already spent hours on the floor holding the balloon string and watching it bounce around (not realizing that it is him bouncing it)! He is fascinated by it. Coleman is so good about sharing his birthday balloons. I'm not sure he has the option though! :)


That weekend, we tried to keep the birthday bash going for Coleman. Try being the key word. The Bartletts joined us on Saturday and were going to stay the night. However, Coleman got sick and they decided to head back to Grand Forks. At first we thought it was Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, but after the long weekend, lots of phone calls to the doctor, and an Urgent Care visit, we came to the conclusion that it was Tonsillitis. Sorry Maggie for getting couped up because of the wrong diagnosis. Here she is eating a popsicle with Coleman and the dads!


Well, between Coleman and Teegan (who still is far from sleeping through the night), I have crawled out of bed eight times in eight hours for the past two nights. That isn't including the few times that Phil had to do it for me because my brain and body couldn't make the connection. I know it will get better soon. Its just a matter of surviving until then! :)
